In the last few weeks, airlines have canceled more flights and stranded more passengers since 9/11. Weather can be a brutal force and our system of transportation can be severely compromised.
Some of the lessons that travelers learned after 9/11 and now after this latest episode bear repeating: keep all of your medicines with you, keep a change of clothes in your carry-on luggage, keep a cell phone charger or have a calling card available, research alternate routes, and be patient.
Nothing is worse for airlines than to cancel flights and strand passengers. It doesn't exactly help them with their image.
As you fly, keep in mind that you are a part of a great tradition of air flying. Remember, there are still millions of people who have never been on a plane. It does make it a special experience.
